China considers this region important to its economy and security due to number of reasons.

Tibet is the home of tallest mountains and angelic places. |
Tibet is now one of the most repressed and compacted region
in the world. Al though it’s been half a decade since, China invaded this
region in 1950 but the people of Tibet never stopped believing that they are a
fee nation with their own culture, language, norms and values. Similarly,
Tibetan people are ethnically distinct from Han Chinese, inhabiting China’s
east. About 60 years ago China occupied this region still the emerging super
power couldn’t suppress the resistance of the people belonging to the region,
who clearly deny China’s rule and claim their autonomy.
Part of East Asia, Tibetan region has an imperative
demographic figure that it influences the entire sub-continent even whole of
Asia. Once an empire, Tibet is surrounded by great Himalayas, Kunlun, Altyn Tag
and Nan Shan from the sides. Additionally, the region is called “Third Pole of
The World” for the reason that it has got enormous fresh water reserves in the
form of ice as arctic motion. Similarly, the highest plateau in the world and
still it is growing.
China on different occasions opposed the stance of Dalai
Lama, the spiritual leader of Tibetan people. Similarly, countries of the
region and world have condemned China on platforms against its forceful
suppression of people and not letting them autonomous. But the question is why
Tibet is so important to China that it doesn’t want the region to be separated
or influenced by any other country.
Firstly, China is
alarmingly short of fresh water. Much of the country is desert specially, in
North. To overcome this dilemma, China is working over building new dams. But, until
the completion of dams, country will be in need of water as a primary need and
this is where we find out the Tibetan gravity. Tibet is a crucial source of fresh
water and it has one of the largest fresh water resources after arctic and Antarctica.
Likewise, Yangtze and Yellow rivers, the two most important rivers that flow
all across the country are resourced from the Tibetan plateau. Not to mention,
the land in between the rivers is known as one of the best agricultural land in
the world.

Secondly, Tibet
is affluent in natural resources. Earlier, it was spotted that Tibetan soil is
blesses to have at least 15 different sorts of natural reserves. These reserves
included copper, zinc, led, iron and others, worth around $150 Billion. The
area is approximately as big as three states of United States such as
California, Montana and Texas combined. Henceforth, it will increase the
Chinese exports and expand the economy.
Finally, although,
having 13% of China’s total land area only 0.2% of population lives here. India
is a neighboring threat to China. Tibet plays as a geographical protection of
China. If China makes the region autonomous, India is going to rule Tibet. The
meaning is clear; India is going to have strict command over water resources of
China as it had forcefully done the same thing in Jammu & Kashmir, withholding
the water resources of Pakistan. Additionally, Tibet is a backward region with
no infrastructure, which means India in case of invading China, will not have a
smooth path to pass.
China is making more and more moves to integrate the Tibet
into Chinese culture. Thousand of Han Chinese has moved to the region. Chinese government
is working on the infrastructure as they recently opened world’s highest rail
road and even an airport near the Indian border in Tibet. To sum up, China
knows the value of the relevant region and is working on to winning the hearts
of Tibetan people to indulge them in national circle.
